Episode 5: Finding purpose: What’s it worth?

Purpose

Have you ever wondered why you’re here or what you’re supposed to do with your life? We decided to go out and ask some college students from Texas A&M University and colleges around Boston what they think on the subject. And then we spoke with artist and musician Alex Cook who shares how he’s found purpose as a mural painter. Julie Furbush tells us about her work interviewing CEOs of successful non-profit organizations and what they have to say about following your passion. And what about that question of where purpose comes from in the first place? Christian Science lecturer Lois Carlson has thought a lot about that. Listen in to see what everyone has to say.

Episode 4: Keeping afloat in a sinking economy

Economy

The economy is in the tank, but do we have to sink with the market?

We talked with some Boston-area university students to find out how these tight times are affecting them. And then we turned to Christian Science lecturer Evan Mehlenbacher to find out what we can do about it. He says we live in a divine economy. What does that mean?

Also in the program, Anna Warmack, a bank examiner for the Federal Reserve shares her take on the financial fallout. Plus, musician Clark Wheeler tells us his model for financial stability while making his way in the music world in New York City.

Episode 3: Election ’08 and beyond: we’re all in this together

Election

Election coverage of the 2008 road to the White House has been non-stop for the past year or so. And judging by the media coverage, this political race is as hot as any we’ve seen. So, we’re wondering how we-in this country and abroad-can come together to handle political issues productively.

We got different takes on this question by talking with some Harvard students, an OpenCongress.org blogger, a former adviser to the French Prime Minister, and a Christian Science lecturer involved in Bobby Kennedy’s presidential bid.

Episode 2: Is religion ‘Religulous?’

Religulous

Is religion ridiculous?

That’s the premise of Bill Maher’s new documentary, “Religulous.” We saw the film (twice) and spoke with a variety of moviegoers—religious and non-religious—to get their take on it. Our discussions with college students felt just as thought-provoking as the film itself, especially when Christian Science lecturer Robin Hoagland joined us. Whatever your point of view, this podcast is likely to get you thinking deeper about God, faith, and the whole science and religion debate.
